The land of Devas or Abodeof Gods in the 27th state of Indian Union came into existence on 9thNovember 2000. It was formally bifurcated from the present state of UttarPradesh. The state has two separate physical features into two of hillyregions- Garhwal in the west and Kumaon in the east. Both the regions haveplaces of exceptional natural beauty, snow capped peaks, glaciers, alpinemeadows, clear crystal lakes, holy rivers and rich flora and fauna in theirlaps.

The Valley of Flower’sand Nanda Devi Mountain range is World heritage natural site located in thestate.

Kumaon: - The beautifuland most popular hill stations like Nainital, Almora, Ranikhet and Kausani havetheir own charm in winter and summer season. The pilgrimage centre ofJageshwar, Bageshwar and Baijnath attract thousands of visitors in festivaldays. The Corbett National Park is located on the Ramganga River is one of thebest game reserve in the country.

Garhwal:- The touristpotential of Garhwal have been fully utilized. The region is the source of twolargest rivers of India. The Ganga at Gangotri in the North Central Garhwal,one off the most revered place is the Garhwal of the Hindus.

The Chardham: -Badrinath, Kedarnath, Haridwar and Rishikesh are important religious touristplaces. Between May and November, the melting of snow in the mountains attractspilgrimage and trekkers to the adorous journey to pay visit to holy shrines andmighty peaks of Badrinath and Kedar Nath Shrines.
